“I’m looking forward to lending my experience as a criminal defense attorney to the Mayor’s committee” Nava said when asked about his service. Mr. Nava’s father was a police officer in El Paso, Texas for almost thirty years. “I grew up around law enforcement, so I have always been passionate about ways to make policing safer for both officers and the members of the community they serve.” The committee’s purpose is to review past and current recommendations made to the Phoenix City Council and the Phoenix Police Department that could strengthen police-community relations.
